Many vehicles come equipped with automatically-dimming rearview mirrors these days. The purpose of this technology is preventing you from having to switch between the dimmed mirror function and the regular view. This technology is very convenient, and it also keeps you safe while you are driving.

Your rearview mirror will sense any glare that is coming from behind your vehicle. The mirror will darken to the level that it feels is appropriate. The mirror will become clear again when there isn't a glare to worry about. Some vehicles will allow you to turn this function off if you don't want to use it.

Through electrochromics, electricity is used to tint the glass through a very low-voltage supply of power. Electricity moves through the mirror by way of an electrochromic gel product that is installed in between two pieces of glass during the manufacturing phase.
